NEWSLETTER #278
[Retrouvez la version française de cette newsletter ici]
Hey everyone! Welcome to Geek-Art Newsletter #278! If you missed last week’s update, here’s the big news: I’ve decided to shake things up with a brand-new editorial direction for Geek-Art. From now on, the newsletter is going to be WAY richer in content. You’ll still get my weekly handpicked selection of four killer portfolios—the crème de la crème of illustrators I dig up in my endless researches—but that’s just the beginning. Expect fresh updates on Magic: The Gathering artwork, new art print releases, exciting book and art project Kickstarters (all through the Geek-Art lens, of course), plus an in-depth interview with an artist, diving into their work and creative inspirations.
Now, you can probably imagine that putting together a weekly newsletter with all this content—in both English and French—takes a LOT of work and countless hours of digging. That’s why, starting this fall, Geek-Art will become fully payed subscriber-based. I truly hope some of you will take the leap and support this project I’ve been pouring my heart into for years. Don’t worry though—free subscribers will still get access to a portion of the newsletter. Paid subs will enjoy the full experience every week, plus complete access to the entire archive, from the very first issue until now.
I really hope you enjoy this week’s edition—I loved putting it together, as always. Have a fantastic week, and as ever: power to creativity!

PORTFOLIOS
Meli
Fantastic digital artist from Turkey, Meli is a multidisciplinary artist who thrives on NFT platforms. I really LOVE his character series : great designs and characters, flat background, and a nice mix of comic books and anime style. Love it !

Debjit Dutta
Debjit is a freelance concept & environment artist. I love his brutalism landscapes and crazy soviet like machinery. Fascinating work !
Yeli Alli
You are so not ready for Yeli’s fantasy and cyberpunk pinups. The character design itself is crazy, with fantastic clothes, armors and textures. Those ladies are not to be messed up with !
Ionomycin
Ionomycin is an artist who managed to both surprise me and move me. His detailed, poetic universe—somewhere between Ghibli and Elden Ring—weaves rich, mesmerizing stories. It’s everything I love about illustration!
MAGIC
Will this Magic: The Gathering section become a weekly staple of the newsletter? I’m not sure yet—but one thing’s for sure: the art directors at Wizards of the Coast are doing an outstanding job. The artists they bring on board are always top-tier in their fields, and I especially love those little personal joy-moments when creators I’ve been following for years get tapped to illustrate cards for this legendary game!
Below, the brilliant Deathburger delivers a Secret Lair of five cards set in his now-iconic cyberpunk universe.

GEEK-ART NEWS
My pick of this week’s fresh drops and art news! Let’s kick things off with a brand-new art print by Hieu, aka Kelogsloops, available right here. Honestly, I’m running out of words—it’s just that gorgeous…
Check out the artist’s creative process through this post on Twitter here !
This week, one of my favorites, French Label 619, unveiled a Kickstarter via Magnetic Press for a Deluxe US edition of the amazing sentai comic Shin Zéro by Guillaume Singelin and Mathieu Bablet. One of the stretch goals even includes a collectible figurine based on one of Guillaume’s best panels. Only a few days left to back this masterpiece!
Finally, if you’re an Arcane fan like me, I highly recommend checking out the stunning fan art prints by French Unicorn, aka Fren, available on her online store!
INTERVIEW : AURÉLIEN MORINIÈRE
Aurélien, a French comic book illustrator, kindly answered a few questions about his work and inspirations. This first interview in a series that will become a regular feature of the Geek-Art weekly newsletter can be found directly here, or on the Interview section of the Geek-Art Newsletter Home Page!
